Steelheart

Read In: August 2014
Summary:  Ten years ago, Calamity came. It was a burst in the sky that gave ordinary people extraordinary powers. The awed public started calling them Epics.
Epics are no friends of man. With incredible gifts came the desire to rule. And to rule man, you must crush his will.
Now, in what was once Chicago, an astonishingly powerful Epic named Steelheart has installed himself as emperor. Steelheart possesses the strength of ten men and can control the elements. It is said that no bullet can harm him, no sword can split his skin, and no fire can burn him. He is invincible. Nobody fights back . . . nobody but the Reckoners.
A shadowy group of ordinary humans, the Reckoners spend their lives studying Epics, finding their weaknesses, and then assassinating them. And David wants in.
When Steelheart came to Chicago, he killed David’s father. For years, like the Reckoners, David has been studying, and planning, and he has something they need. Not an object, but an experience.
   He has seen Steelheart bleed.
   And he wants revenge.
*****
This is a post apocalyptic world.
When David was a child, Steelheart killed his father. David wants revenge. In this world there are epics who are humans with powers/ abilities. Only some people have powers. Steelheart is the most powerful epic. As the days go on, David searches for a group called the reckoners. The reckoners kill and destroy epics. He wants to join the reckoners so together they can kill Steelheart. But its not that easy...................

This is my first book that I have read by Brandon Sanderson and I must say I was impressed. I'm a sucker for superpower books. I like how these human with superpowers aren't heroes but villains.
Lets talk about the characters. This book is from David's perspective. David is a funny, cool, fearless guy. The members of the reckoners had their own personalities and responsibilities. I really enjoyed them. Let me just say that I learned a lot about weapons. This book talks about guns thoroughly. I also found that interesting.
The beginning and last half of the book is fast paced and action packed. The middle is where it was a bit slow. There were some twists that I didn't see coming. Usually I can predict what will happen but I had no clue which is a good thing. I recommend this book if you're into post apocalyptic, superpower books!!!
